The Retreat offers two main programmes; a 30-day residential programme, or alternatively an afternoon or evening programme. The sober living programme is only available to those who have completed the 30-day residential programme. To find out more, click on the links below.
Involving the Family
Alcoholism and addiction affects the entire family, and family members require their own recovery process. The alcoholic has a significantly better chance of success when the family is involved. We invite the families of our guests to participate in our Family Group held on the last Sunday of each month. This group offers support from volunteers and other families who have suffered under alcoholism. The group is designed to be educational, focusing on boundaries that promote a healthy recovery environment when a guest leaves The Retreat.
Mission
Our mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals, families and communities affected by alcohol and drug or other substance abuse by providing supportive services grounded in 12 Step principles which are widely accessible, cost-effective and of the highest quality.
Real Results
The Retreat Model was developed in 1998 by The Retreat Wayzata, USA and has shown increasingly positive outcome rates which exceed traditional treatment at a quarter of the cost. The Retreat’s 30-day residential programme relies on a simple approach that:
- Seperates the guests from their drinking or drugging environment.
- Surrounds them with like-minded individuals who are passionate about finding sobriety, constantly reinforcing the idea that recovery is a ‘we’ programme.
- Introduces the guests to fellow alcoholics whose drinking problem has been solved that show our guests precisely how to stay sober.
- The Retreat is firmly grounded in the principles of 12 Step recovery. We help guests become aware of their condition, embrace honesty and take direction leading to not only abstinence but improved quality of life.
Residential
While some people flourish in outpatient treatment programmes, those suffering from severe or long-term addiction are often more successful with residential programmes.
