Why the Retreat is important for New Zealand

Alcohol and other drugs are in every dark corner of society. There is no clear boundary between moderation and excess. Those who acknowledge addiction need and deserve all our support.

Your Role on Board of Directors

Drafted and registered Stepping Stones Recovery Trust Deed. As a non AA his role is to contribute to healthy and spiritual governance, board balance with objective views from outside the recovering community John has a long association with Roger Green (all his life) and is his family's legal advisor. "I know the Higher Power – what more can I say. I know we cannot live by our own strength. I commend the Retreat, and proudly represent the rest of New Zealand"

Edward Aster

Publisher, Entrapeneur, Business Developer, specializes in start up business in real estate, publishing, and specialty retailing, currently acting as advisor in the Travel Retail/Duty free industry.
The Retreat model for Alcohol and drug rehabilitation is critically needed in New Zealand to address the extremely high incidence of Alcoholism and drug addiction. Currently there is a lack of facilities countrywide to address these needs. New Zealand knows it has a problem with alcohol abuse and the terrible   effects that arise from this national problem. A program that is based upon the 12 step program developed by Alcoholics Anonymous is the foundation of the Retreat model and will be supported by a strong group of recovering AA members and clinical professionals who know what it takes to get the message of AA across to the suffering alcoholics and drug abusers.
My role on the Board of Directors is to act as an advisor and supporter in all aspects of developing the Retreat and the areas of support needed to get the facilities up and running and to insure the program is a long term success.
